Danalogies

 


What is a "Danalogy"?  It is an analogy created by Dan (me).  The goal is to change the perspective or perhaps get an understanding of something that otherwise was hard to grasp.

This is a list of them and the blog that supports or describes their meaning.

  • There is not point to striking out on purpose

  • Acroyoga: you need a strong base and creative pose and a spotter! Let us be the spotter for your marriage

  • Are you studying for the test or learn the material?l

  • Gardener- husband means gardener how is your family growing?

  • Sitting with a bear or a dog or a cat? How your wife is acting right now has a lot to do with how you treat her.

  • Perspectives by picking okra.  One side you can see the fruit, the other side you can't.

  • You're wife is an mc Escher drawing. "Down is up out is in. Circle back back to where you've been" -- song lyrics from "Escher's World" by "Chagall Guevara"

  • Boat towing another boat. the tow rope is the relationship. When the boats dock, success is the fact the tow rope didn't break regardless of the condition of the towed boat.

  • both in the boat rowing in the same direction. there is still a team even if the strokes aren't in unison.

  • First person shooter and Third person shooter perspective on life. It takes both perspectives to navigate and execute with wisdom

  • The GPS can't correct or confirm until you start moving

In the introduction to the acro-yoga analogy, I introduced the three roles.  We'll take a deeper look at the "Base" this time. From the various pictures, it is clear the base holds everything up.  This role isn't glamorous.  It doesn't get the spotlight.  However, it is a vital role.  It is a role that literally holds up the flyer.  The flyer's poise and confidence comes from the base.  Beyond strength, stamina and flexibility, it is trust that enables this pose.  You can be supremely good as the base and excel in all of the needed skills but if the flyer doesn't trust you, there won't be a pose.  It isn't worth risk. I am interrupting the series I started last time for this topic.  It can certainly be combined with the ideas that are coming in the "Foundation" on the "acro-yoga" series.  Have you ever wondered what Ephesians 5 is correcting in the marital relationship?  Not just then at that moment for the Corinthians but fundamentally for both persons.  Where did the relationship go wrong? Acro-yoga as a model to the coaching and counseling process -- Part 1

 First, what is 'Acro-yoga'?  According to wikipedia , it is "is a physical practice that combines yoga and acrobatics."  It is also an activity that involves three persons:  the base, flyer and the spotter. Here's an example from the wiki article. There are more images in the wiki link.  You can search for images and find similar pictures and videos.  The pictures clearly demonstrate the roles of each of the persons involved as well as what it looks like when done well.
